Successful 2011.,

Hello Friends,
I’m very much pleased to write this note as we completed first year of VIZHUDHUGAL. It gives me great pleasure to share this with all of you. Without your support it is not possible to cross the year with great success and that too at the beginning itself. I’m feeling very proud to stand before you while I summarize the milestones that we have crossed the whole year.

Here comes the moment to take a look back at the path that we crossed.

In January, VIZHUDHUGAL got birth and addressed the world through the blog http://vizhudhugal-india.blogspot.com

As I mentioned in the introductory note about Vizhudhugal, this is a team formed by likeminded persons to serve the need, and very surprised to see the involvement of many likeminded persons in joining their hands with us to serve the need.

Vizhudhugal - First move........... S. Rakesh Kanna, a 5 year old having heart pumping problem had given a chance for us to begin our responsible tasks. Though, we were not the complete cause for this treatment, we felt very much proud at least we could be a part of a good cause.

As we decided earlier, educating the interested students, we found the girls, Sandhya and Naveen. Later we heard from the sources that these girls were the rank holders in their classes. Both families were very much happy to see their children getting a good education through us which in turn boosted our energy to concentrate more on the education side.

On our way to the hunt for the interested students, we found Michel Anglo, who had been helped by a Christian missionary staff but not to a reasonable level, when we heard about his situation, he had been given the support of Vizhudhugal. He is now doing a very good job in scoring.

We understood that only education can help anyone to earn their own breads, we found Durga who had completed her UG and interested to take B.Ed course which will help her to live her own life without depending on others, as a Team ‘Vizhudhugal’  helped her to get admitted in the course which she happily crossing through.,

And finally, when we got a request for a girl who wanted to continue her higher studies, we felt it’s just a request. But when we started our ground work, we were very much surprised to see her will power and the interest she got on the studies, Though she lost her parents in the recent past and no support from siblings, being a Physically challenged, she earns for her life and staying in a hostel and commuting in auto for work. She cannot move few steps without help of her hands, even in such situation, she got the interest to study and above all, she wanted to be in a good position to help the physically challenged persons.

In addition to this, we had set up a common group id to reach out all the members in a single touch.  vizhudhugal-india@googlegroups.com serves the purpose.

We have been updating all these activities then and there in our blog and circulated among the members and its very encouraging to see the member count being increased in a decent numbers. I once again take the opportunity to THANK YOU all for the participation and the support being given throughout our way. With this thank note, I request you to market our blog to your friends and colleagues who might having interest in such kind but looking for a right hand to hold. I continue to expect the same from all of us and even new members down the line and wish to complete 2012 even more success.

THANK YOU ALL.,

Dear All,

I’d like to take an opportunity to share the last initiation taken by Team ‘Vizhudhugal’ for the year 2011. We were told by Mr. Senthil Sir about a handicapped girl Begam, who is willing to do her higher studies (M.COM) who had lost her parents in the recent past and not supported by siblings. Though she had no source of help, she had a strong desire to take our studies with help from any means. Thanks to Senthil sir for introducing her to us and the ground work he did to ensure the reliability.

Begham was from Theni district completed B.Com and currently employed as Receptionist in ‘Russ Foundation’ for the past 7 months and had worked before in Kennet Hospital and Aircel Madurai. Her parents left her alone a year ago and unable to continue her studies due to her financial status. She is staying in a hostel managing her monthly expense with her little income.

Team ‘Vizhudhugal’ after the usual formalities, our team member visited her in person and conveyed the support of our team and sponsored her Rs.2100 for her studies. She was very happy for the help as her dream of higher studies come true and expressed her hearty thanks to everyone behind this.

Dear All,

I’m writing this with the recent activity that we made through ‘Vizhudhugal’. Let me take the opportunity to introduce S.R. Durga, who had completed her UG in 2010 with the help of her mother’s salary taking care of her ailing father. Now she is willing to do a B.Ed which she believes she can make her own bread on completion and take care of her parents as well. With the request we received from the HM of Nirmala School, Madurai who has been the Mentor and helping Durga from childhood, our Vizhudhugal team verified the details provided by Durga has decided to take the responsibility of her studies.., and following the initial talks that we had with Durga and her mentor, we had given Rs.20000/- as part of first phase. She is now admitted into St. Justin’s college of teaching. We will keep monitoring the progress of Durga and help her to complete her studies successfully.

Dear All,
I’ve like to take an opportunity to share the latest activity on the ‘Vizhudhugal’. As promised before, we continue to support the school children who were good in studies and need a helping hand to move forward on their way. Here, I take the pleasure to introduce Michel Anglo J, studying Std V (Fifth Grade) in John Bosco Nursery and Primary School, Madurai who is now being a part of beneficiaries of team ‘Vizhudhugal’. We came to know about him through one of the member of Christian missionary who was helping his studies by collecting few hundred from her colleagues and teachers of the same school. Michel’s father is working for a call taxi company and his mother as a Sathunuvu staff in a school. As told earlier, We have selected these students based on the interest for them in studies, family background, financial status, parent’s behavior and etc. Herewith, I’ve given the details of Michel and a letter from his school and his last year mark sheet.

Michel's Biodata, Mark Sheet and Letter from School Principle.

On behalf of ‘Vizhudhugal’, I would like to thank and appreciate you all very much from my heart for the efforts and the contributions that has been made by individuals. I wish a Grand Success on this initiative and will be extended to maximum recipients in the future.

Dear All,
I’m very pleased to write this post as ‘Vizhudhugal’ making its next move towards the goal of educating children from poor background. With the help of our beloved friend and guide Mr. Senthil Kumar, we have identified two children so far (Sandya and Naveena) and will be sponsoring their academic year 2011 – 2012. Details of those students and the Bonafide certificate issued by their school were provided here. We will be completely responsible for the expense incur (includes the Uniform, Notes, Books, Stationary and etc) during this academic year. And we also planned to encourage the students with gifts based on their academic progress.
We have selected these students based on the interest for them in studies, family background, financial status, parent’s behavior and etc. Total estimation of their studies per annum have been made and will be given to them by every quarter by paying the term fees, buying the necessary things directly by any one of our team members to make sure the fund is reaching the student without any roadblocks. And the same will be shared in this blog in a periodic manner.

He is admitted in Apollo Children's Hospital, Chennai (Room Number: 1305) and under treatment for the same at ICU unit (Hospital IP No: 7733 & ID No: 29502). The treatment cost so far has been more than Rs. 5,00,000/-(Five Lakhs) and his parents somehow have managed to meet with all their savings and a personal loan and other financial sources.

He is now in a critical condition as the treatment hasn't improved his heart condition. The doctor has advised that he need to have immediate 'Heart Transplant' operation and it will be cost around Rs.10,00,000/- (Ten Lakhs). He is waiting for a suitable heart with continuous medication in the hospital. Unfortunately now his parents were in a helpless position as they do not have enough money to meet this expense.
This piece of news has been floating around in emails. Vizhudhugal wants join its hands as a little drop after a small ground work by our team members to measure the level of truth behind this and contributed Rs. 10000/- on March 2011. We will get in touch with Rakesh’s parents and keep updating the improvement of the treatment. Lets pray for him. “GET WELL SOON, Rakesh……………”
